Our week has begun very well. This morning we worked in reading and writing and we have begun a little project for parents on Thursday evening. The children are very excited.
Notes: We will have gym class and library on Wednesday.
Math: Unit 1 is a mishmash of all sorts of topics but it does introduce the children to many of the concepts they will be working on this year. This week the focus is the following:
Monday: Rounding numbers using a number line.
Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday are dealing with telling time and calculating how much time has gone by.
In reading, we have been looking at strategies and commonalities in what readers need to be successful readers. Today we looked at where we read and came up with the following:
quiet
free of distractions
comfortable
good lighting
In writing the children are beginning to think about possible writing topics and how to effectively narrow them down.
