Today at the end of the day, we watched a movie with the rest of the third grade. We watched "Inside Out". It is a marvelous movie about the feelings we all have and the different ways we need to interpret how people feel using their faces, body language, voice, etc.
It ties in nicely with the first unit of our Second Step program that deals with Empathy. Tomorrow morning I will plan on having the children do a brief informal writing piece about the emotions displayed by the main character, Riley.
We will also be tying it to our current Reader's Workshop unit which focuses on character development and the emotions and traits characters demonstrate, through their actions and/or words.
