Math Unit 2

We are starting unit 2 in mrath.  The unit will focus on the four operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.  We will begin slowly by reviewing addition and subtraction facts and how to use the basic facts to solve extended problems.  As an example: 3 + 4 =7; so 13 + 4 =17.  Then they will solve number stories (aka. word problems).  These will expand to the point where the children must complete a couple of steps to solve for the answer.  Then about lesson 6, we will be working with the concept of multiplying by 1 and zero.  I can state with fair certainty the kids are well beyond this already. The end of the unit begins to relate the multiplication to division.  I anticipate this unit lasting about 3 weeks.  Have a great day!
